Types of Massage Offered:
By reading this far you have probably decided that you want to have a massage but are not quite sure which type is the best for you. This section describes the types of massage I offer so that you can decide!
The Signature Massage (1.5 Hours)
If you have never experienced massage before this is the one for you! It's a bit like a taster plate in a restaurant where you can try a little bit of everything.
Aimed primarily at relaxation, this massage combines Swedish massage with elements of Thai and Deep Tissue. At the end of the first massage I will explain which bits come from each tradition and also ask what you enjoyed the most. I can then tailor your next massage accordingly.
The Works (2 Hours)
This is the ultimate session for the discerning male. Increasingly, I have been asked for longer and more personalised massage sessions so came up with 'The Works'. This massage is designed for the mind, body and soul and contains a bit of everything you wish for with a few surprises too.... 'The Works' is a prescription massage especially designed for you and your needs. The massage is personalised, unhurried and uses the highest quality materials including organic lavender foot cream, herbal facial balm and specially blended aromatherapy oils according to the time of day and mood.
Swedish Massage (1.5 Hours)
Swedish massage is probably the most common form of massage in the Western World. It comprises a number of different movements which can be applied at different pressures according to the client's needs. Swedish massage can be quite light and sensual or much deeper with heavy pressure.
The techniques used are Effleurage (stroking) Petrissage (kneading) Frictions , Percussion and Vibrations. These movements are combined to produce a flowing massage where contact with the body is never lost from beginning to end.

Deep Tissue Massage (1 Hour)
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of massage that focuses on releasing the deeper myofascial restrictions of the deeper muscles, tendons and ligaments of the body. The techniques employed use slow and deep strokes with direct pressure applied across the grain of the muscles. Deep Tissue Massage is aimed at everyone but particular groups such as athletes or individuals that perform repetitive work that causes strain on muscles and joints can gain particular benefit.
The massage relaxes and soothes muscles, increases the range of motion and aids muscles to star flexible.
This form of massage can cause some discomfort but the therapist will work with the client to work within their tolerance thresholds.

Thai Massage:
" ...is like a thousand gentle waves washing over the body"
(Chongkol Setthakorn)
If you have ever been on holiday to Thailand, you will appreciate that massage is a way of life. Every other shop provides massage and the beaches are lined with bamboo massage huts offering massage at very realistic prices. The art of Thai massage has been passed down from generation to generation and is also taught in the Buddhist monasteries
Thai massage is often referred to as 'Thai Bodywork' and it involves the rhythmic compression of energy lines (Sen Lines) and points. in synergy with deep stretching movements, gentle rocking and a connection twixt giver and receiver. Following a treatment, both giver and receiver usually feel more open, stretched, refreshed and balanced. It has a calming and healing effect, relieving excess energy and increasing positive energy flow. It can be used to maintain well-being and can help in the reversal of degenerative conditions.
Thai massage alleviates the “holding” of both tight muscles and thoughts by encouraging correct breathing and by rocking and “giving permission” through supportive touch. A treatment relieves this “holding” by gentle stretching and lengthening of muscles and slowly opening tight joints.

Foot massage is an integral part of this massage and incorporates elements of Shiatsu and reflexology. Thai foot massage involves hands on stretching and massage along with the use of a stick to stimulate the reflex points.
Thai Massage balances the elements of the mind and body whilst Thai foot massage stimulates the internal organs giving the receiver a holistic treatment!
Thai Herbal Compress Massage:
In traditional Thai medicine, hot herbal compress balls are used to complement massage and treat common ailments. The principle is similar to that of aromatherapy but herbs are used instead of essential oils.
The heat relaxes the aching muscles and helps to open up the pores allowing for better absorbtion of the herbal ingredients. they will also soothe the swelling in muscles and joints and improve circulation.

In Thailand, different herbs are used to treat different ailments and the balls are prepared using fresh herbs.
A more detailed information sheet on this treatment giving information on the herbs is available on request. Clients who experience this treatment always comment on the wonderful feeling of the hot ball which moulds itself to the shape of the body.
At the end of the treatment you are given the herbal balls to take home. They can be used again or in the bath.
Herbal Foot Bath:
Why not treat yourself to a 15 minute chill-out before any massage with a herbal foot soak. You sit back and relax with a drink in your hand and your feet in a warm herbal footbath especially prepared using a mixture of exotic herbs. Your feet are then dried and if needed I will use a pumice stone to remove dry skin. Your feet are then massaged and moisturised using a specially formulated herbal cream. This treatment is available in conjunction with any massage.
